Looking for a new cocktail? This recipe for a gin moscow mule takes an old favorite and adds a new twist. While moscow mules typically use vodka, this gin version adds a brightness and is quite tasty.

Gin Moscow Mule

Juice of 1 lime

5-6 mint leaves

2 tbsp simple syrup

4 oz. Ginger Beer

2 oz. gin

First up, muddle the mint leaves, simple syrup and lime juice together. This is similar to making a mojito, muddling is key. Then add the gin and ginger beer. Fill copper mug with mixture, then add more ice to the top. Garnish with lime wedge. This recipe makes one drink, double as needed. As far as ginger beers, well we are ginger beer snobs. My favorites are Fever Tree hands down and Q Mixers are tasty as well. I avoid some of the varieties that are super sugary/syrup tasting.

This is another installment in my First Friday Cocktail Series. Each month I share a new recipe on the First Friday. This recipe features Southern Gin from Thirteenth Colonies in Georgia. It’s 6x distilled in the presence of Juniper berries & spices, 10x filtered, and handcrafted in small batches. Keep checking back for more!

Who am I? Just a southern momma that loves a good find, a great recipe, home decor and of course a bargain!
