Finally sharing the first before and after of our new home, with some kitchen remodel ideas. We bought a 1960’s home and took on the task of updating it, starting with the kitchen. When we purchased the house, the kitchen had original cabinets, wood paneled walls, an oven in the wall and linoleum countertops.
We knew the kitchen had good bones, but we also knew it needed some serious updating. Our first decision was to determine how we would configure the new space.
theCollarfind tip: I highly recommend meeting with a designer that can draw in CAD and help with spacial configuration. I knew what I wanted to to look like, but I am not an expert on how to make that happen!
My favorite part was choosing the marble. The minute I saw this white silver I knew it was the one! The best part, it was on the lower range for cost, an added plus. Because we were doing this renovation ourselves, and because tile and grout seemed hard to keep clean, we opted to do the marble on the walls in the kitchen and on the island. We chose a white quartz on the countertops for durability.
My husband was sold on an all gas range. He found an American made Thor oven from California, and we absolutely love it.
theCollarfind tip: Make sure your installer uses the conversion kit. Ours did not, and we found out the hard way when the food came out black and full of soot. No bueno.
So here it is: The same little spot that is pictured above. I accented this area with turkish hand towels and pops of navy that I have used throughout the house. I love the little work nook to the right of the stove, because I keep my most used items there along with a good smelling candle! Hope these kitchen remodel ideas helped!
