Want a fun cocktail without all of the calories? If so, this Skinny Moscow Mule recipe is perfect for you! I created this recipe because I like a mixed drink, but I don’t like all of the sugar. And, I found the perfect secret ingredient.
The trick is to keep the ginger flavor but leave out all of the sugar or artificial sweeteners! More sugar- more calories and a better chance of a headache, no thanks.
So what’s the trick? I found this sparkling ginger water at Whole Foods, and it provides the ginger flavor that a moscow mule recipe calls for, but without the calories and sugar! If you need a little more ginger flavor, I sometimes add a splash of Fever Tree Ginger Beer. In my opinion, it’s the best ginger beer around, and we keep it stocked in our fridge. Check Costco, they sometimes carry cases of Fever Tree, and that is worth grabbing as you save lots!
And don’t forget a good garnish. I like to garnish with a piece of candied ginger, but keep in mind it will up the spicy quota id its sits in your drink, which my husband loves. We also always try to have mint on hand, and you can impress your quests by “slapping” the mint. It brings out the flavor according to one of our favorite bartenders in town.
