Quarantine 15 anyone? Now that we are able to go and do more and work off that socially distanced weight gain, it’s hot. Hot AND humid here in Charleston. And working out in the heat can be hard if you are not properly prepared, so this summer workout plan is here to help.

I recently popped into Blue Sky Endurance for a new pair of On Cloud Running shoes, and spoke with their team about working out in the heat. While the proper shoes are important, there are other factors to consider when devising a summer workout plan. Kevin Murray of Blue Sky Endurance, a local store that tailors to athletes of all kinds, explains “Take it slow. Do what you can and time your workouts for the early morning or evening, and it’s smart to avoid the hottest parts of the day.”

Hydration is also important to consider, even if you aren’t an elite athlete. Murray explains, “Sometimes water may not be enough when it is so hot. Consider hydration supplements like Nuun to replenish electrolytes. Stay away from the sugary options.” Check out some of my favorite finds for a summer sweat session below.
