It’s my favorite time of the year…football season. Football games have been especially exciting for our family lately as we are big Clemson fans! Even if your team is not having a winning season, you can still host a perfect event with these tailgate ideas.

Kid Friendly Charcuterie

If you are going to the game, it can be a little tricky to get all of the items to your tailgate spot. I keep a tailgate box that has all of the essentials from tablecloths, cutting board, paper products and more. This makes packing easy, especially because we live 4 hours away. Food wise, I bring my big board and make a charcuterie that the adults and kids will enjoy: Palmetto Cheese with crackers and Benne Wafers, cheese cubes, the best football candy corns, and specialty tiger paw cookies.

Tailgating from home can be just as a fun with these tailgate ideas! Since games last all day, veggies are always a good idea to have on hand. We served these sliced veggies with the Everything but the Bagel dip (one ingredient!) and a spinach dip from Trader Joes.

Tailgate Veggie Tray

And don’t forget Ham Delights, my absolute favorite tailgate food. Half of these are usually gone before the game begins

Ham Delights for the WIN

I remember eating these as a little girl at tailgates, and they were my fav. Our friends that we spent time with would make an extra tray for me, if that tells you how much I love them!

Here’s the tried and true Ham Delight Recipe:

2 packages of party rolls

1 lb. Thinly sliced ham

1 Package white American sliced cheese (The individally wrapped ones, it melts the best of all!)

1 stick butter

2 tbsp mustard

1 tbsp of Worcestershire

2 tbsp poppy seeds

1/4 Finely chopped onion (optional)

Bread: If I can find them, I go old school with the tiny dinner rolls that come in the metal trays, but those are awfully hard to find these days. Party rolls are fine, you just don’t want them to be too large.

theCollarfind tip: Do not break the bread into individual rolls, slice them once baked.

Melt the butter, add mustard, worcestershire and poppy seeds. Place half of the mixture on the bottom half of bread. Layer the ham and cheese, and onion. Place the top half back on and use the rest of the butter mixture to coat. Cover in foil and bake at 300 for 20 minutes.
