Charm bracelets were the thing when I was in high school. Who am I kidding? They were the things when my mom was too, they are timeless jewelry in my opinion. If you are like me and have a few charm bracelets collecting dust in your jewelry box, go pull them out! I have a hack that will turn them into a stylish piece of jewelry.

Yep, we are turning it into a necklace. With a simple converter (links below, mine is from Croghan’s Jewel Box on Charleston), available in gold and silver, you can wear your charm bracelets without them catching on everything like they do on our arms. Every time I wear mine as a necklace, someone asks about it. And I love seeing the charms from high school and college. Which charm caught your eye first?

Want a DIY approach? Take some satin ribbon, cut into equal size pieces and tie onto both sides of the charm bracelet. Trim and tuck the knots in the front, and tie in a bow in the back. Perfectly preppy take on the vintage jewels!

Another way to wear sentimental pieces of timeless jewelry is to take you or your child’s baby bracelets, and wear them as a necklace. These are great on a long necklace and layered. They are simple enough to wear with other things and sweet memories from when they would fit those tiny little arms!

Last but not least, when you travel…save your coins! After our family trip to Europe, I kept a few of the coins and had necklaces created for myself and my girls. They are fun to wear and remind us that special time together covering 9 countries in 17 days. These are from Charleston jeweler Dee Ruel.
